Lord Jim, published in 1990, is the first of conrad`s major novels. Like many of Conrad`s works, Lord Jim is set in a colonial worl. The critique of colonialism is much less central here, however , than in a novel like Heart of Darkness. One of the most important themes of the novel is the necessity of man`s involvement with and fidelity to his fellow men as in the Nigger of Narcissus. Nostromo and Victory.
